The Osun State Sports Council has expressed profound appreciation to the Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke for his unwavering support towards the success of the state’s contingent at the just-concluded 9th National Youth Games held in Asaba, Delta State.

The Deputy Governor, who doubles as the Honourable Commissioner for Sports in the state, Prince Kola Adewusi and the Chairman, House Committee on Sports and Youth Development, Hon. Engr. Abiola Jeremiah Awoyeye , were also commended for their commitment and contributions towards the impressive outing of Team Osun.

Speaking after the Games, the General Manager of the Osun State Sports Council, Mr. Ademola Daini, who led the contingent to Asaba, dedicated the team’s achievements to the Governor and his Deputy. He described their support as the bedrock of the team’s remarkable performance.

“The government did so well and you can all see that we represented our dear state with pride. This outing is better than our previous performances, and we are proud to have finished in the top 10 out of 36 states and the FCT. This achievement is dedicated to His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, and his Deputy, Prince Kola Adewusi, whose encouragement and backing made this possible,” he stated.

Team Osun participated in 24 sporting events and returned home with an outstanding 28 medals comprising 5 Gold, 4 Silver, and 19 Bronze medals.

Mr. Ademola Daini also acknowledged the tireless efforts of other high-ranking officials from the Ministry of Sports, including the Acting Permanent Secretary, Pastor Adesiyan Layi , the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Football Matters, Mr. Kehinde Johnson , the Director of Organization, Mrs. Ogunbanwo Aderonke , the Director of Coaching and Training, Mrs. Adejoke Osho , Director of Finance, Mr. Olaosebikan and Director of Admin and Supply, Mrs. Bewaji, describing them as pillars of strength behind the Council’s success.
He assured that the discovered talents at the Games would be nurtured and supported to sustain their growth, while expressing confidence in Governor Adeleke’s promise to reward the young medalists.
“We will not abandon these talented athletes. We will build on their performances, and with the Governor’s consistent support, their future is bright. The Governor always keeps to his word, and we know he will once again fulfill his promise to these champions,” he added.
The Osun State Sports Council once again extends heartfelt gratitude to the Governor, the Deputy Governor, and Hon. Abiola Awoyeye, reaffirming its commitment to flying the state’s flag high in future competitions.
